Hi

We are pleased to announce that the Greek hangout event is now a fact.

It will be taking place every Sunday from 18.00 until 20.00 at Gausel Bydelshus.

There is also a high chance of us introducing chess lessons for children, so if anyone is interested on that, please let us know via a message or an email.

There is also a possibility of starting a Greek Traditions reoccurring session, as well as a Greek traditional music and dancing session.

We are also going to project Greek movies on a big screen.

We will serve tea and coffee and we will be able to discuss “Migration in Norway” topics that concern us, as well as news / what is happening in Greece.

We will also have the opportunity to get to meet each other and the same applies for our children.

There is no requirement of you being a registered member of the “Greek Community in Rogaland” and your support in this effort will be very appreciated.

We are looking forward to meeting you.

We are inviting you all to a meeting where you can get informed and express interest in the operation of a Greek school in our area. There is potential for getting an approval for conducting Greek school courses by the officially appointed teacher at the Greek school of Oslo. Lessons can be done basically remotely by using Skype for example, or by having the appointed teacher visiting Stavanger. Some of the advantages obtained by this us for example the participation in the Certificate of Attainment Examination, which last year was held for the first time in Oslo. It is a unique opportunity for the existence of an organized and officially recognized Greek school in our region.

The event will take place on Saturday 27th of Jaunary 2018 between 15.00 and 17.00

Memmbers that are interested but have other obligations which prevent them from joining us, can also send questions electronically and send data for their children.

We received the following message from Evelina Leivada and the Greek Orthodox Community of Norway, hence promiting it:

The Greek language needs you!
I am an academic and I am doing research to maintain the Greek language among Greeks in Norway. By participating in this short online survey, you can also help yourself in maintaining it. The experiment is anonymous, it is very short (about 10-15 minutes) and is aimed at people who have lived for at least 4 years (or more) in Norway. It will count response time on your answers, so it is very important that you do it without interruptions and on a computer (not a mobile device). Those who participate using a computer and complete the experiment without interruptions will receive a gift card worth 25 euros to buy whatever they want from Amazon. If you take part, contact me via email on the address that will be given to you upon receiving your gift. You can find the link for participating in the research below. Thank you in advance.

Good evening!
We would like to remind you of the information meeting for the Greek school tomorrow 5 to 7 at Gausel bydelshus. Anyone who is interested but can not attend the meeting, can also send us a message for further information.
We are also attaching a letter (in Greek) that we received from the Office for Co-ordination of Education with information on the Certificate of Attainment in Greek, for which the interested parties in Norway can take an exam. This has been valid since last year.
